PRESS RELEASE - 2nd December 2016

Mr. Mick Novo Sangiovese Crowned as South Australia’s Most Drinkable Wine

The Mr. Mick Novo Sangiovese 2015 took out the title of South Australia’s most drinkable wine, at the Adelaide Review Hot 100 Wines 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner last night.

Chosen out of a record 1300 entries, the Novo Sangiovese 2015 (RRP $17) won the - young release style red wines/ Joven / Nouveau with texture (2015 or younger), class elevating it into the top 10. The wine was then selected as the number one most drinkable wine in South Australia. This follows a recent gold medal at the 2016 Alternative Varieties National Wine Show, held in Mildura at the start of the month.

Winemakers Tim Adams and Brett Schutz stated that they were thrilled with being recognised amongst winemaking peers and consumers as making an extremely ‘drinkable wine’. “This award reinforces the Mr. Mick philosophy of making wines for everyone to enjoy, every day”, Brett said.

Tim went on to say, “we were approached by one of our growers about taking his Sangiovese after purchasing large tonnages of other varieties from him. At first, we weren’t quite sure what we would do with the fruit. We ended up making Mr Mick Rosé which is now one of our biggest selling wines. This was followed by the Mr Mick Novo Sangiovese in 2015. We wanted to make a wine where the consumer would wonder where the bottle had gone because it was so easy to drink. We are so pleased that we have achieved this and that it is now being recognised far and wide”.

The 2014 Mr. Mick Tempranillo (RRP $17) has also been selected in the Hot 100 Wines, making it a double for the Mr. Mick portfolio.

Mr. Mick Wines, Cellar Door and Kitchen are named after K.H. (Mr. Mick) Knappstein, a legend within the Australian winemaking industry and Tim Adams’ mentor and friend. Tim and his wife Pam are proud custodians of the landmark property that now bears his name.
