They dared to be a little bit different

MR. Mick Wines has been awarded two gold medals at the 2016 Alternative Varieties Wine Show held inMildura.

The 2016 Mr. Mick Vermentino received a gold medal and 96 points, with the judges commenting that the wine had a “lovely nose of lime leaf and lemon zest with good intensity, great flavour and length”.

One judge finished by saying it was “yum”, which was the reaction Tim Adams and Brett Schutz, Mr. Mick’s winemakers, always strived for when making the Mr. Mick range.

In addition to the Vermentino, the judges were also impressed by the 2015 Mr.Mick Novo Sangiovese, awarding it
96 points and a goldmedal.

“Both Brett and I are thrilled by these gold medals, which confirm that the viticulture and winemaking teams are achieving outstanding results through experimenting with different varieties,”Mr Adams said.

“Mr. Mick (Knappstein), my mentor and friend, was never one to shy away from progression and experiment with new concepts surrounding wine.”

Mr Adams said introducing consumers to new and different varietals as well as crafting fine quality traditional wines was all part of the Mr Mick Wines philosophy of making “wines for everyone”.

The AVWine Show is more than a forum for wines that fall outside the mainstream, cutting edge judging procedures
are encouraged, together with a host of social and educational events that promote knowledge sharing and ideas.
